Sandy Hill Elementary School is committed to providing a nurturing environment that cultivates excellence and respect, enabling our children to accept their individuality and the individual differences of others. Jenison Junior High School attempts to provide a stable learning environment throughout this period. Students who walk through our doors will find challenges that they did not face in elementary school. These challenges include six classes which are taught by six different teachers, each having their own distinct style and expectations of performance. A broad range of subjects and activities open many doors for intellectual and personal growth. Academic and extracurricular activities will help students to assess personal strengths and weaknesses. The insight gained will enable students to make appropriate high school course selections and to make sound career choices.

Jenison is a suburban community in the metropolitan Grand Rapids, Michigan area. It is supportive of its schools as evidenced by tremendous parental support of its many programs. The reputation of its schools has made it a popular home for educators from other school districts and staff from Grand Valley State University, which is located nearby.

Jenison High School offers a comprehensive curriculum of over 150 course offerings with rigorous graduation requirements and an award winning music program. Full special education services are available throughout all grade levels in the district (6 elementary, 1 junior high, 1 high school). Advanced Placement Courses are offered in 13 subjects with 466 Advanced Placement tests (74% scored 3 or better) administered in 2005. JHS’s ACT scores traditionally exceed those of the national averages in all subject areas.

Jenison High School is a 4-year public high school with an enrollment of 1614 (8.1% minority) students in grades 9-12. Ninety-two faculty members (72% with advanced degrees) teach during the six 60 minutes class periods.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17,211 people, 5,975 households, and 4,863 families residing in the community. The population density was 2,940.8 per square mile (1,135.9/km²). There were 6,065 housing units at an average density of 1,036.3/sq mi (400.3/km²). The racial makeup of the community was 97.04% White, 0.49% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.77% of the population.

There were 5,975 households out of which 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.6% were non-families. 16.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.24.

In the community the population was spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 93.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.5 males.

The median income for a household in the community was $56,426, and the median income for a family was $61,957. Males had a median income of $46,738 versus $28,204 for females. The per capita income for the community was $21,021. About 1.8% of families and 2.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.1% of those under age 18 and 4.3% of those age 65 or over.

Welcome to the Georgetown Charter Township Web site. Georgetown Charter Township is located in Ottawa County, Michigan. The Township was established in 1840, and became a charter township in 1965. The 2008 population estimate is 45,416. The Township, through its seven trustees charts the course the community will follow. The trustees include the Township Supervisor, Clerk and Treasurer and four general trustees, all elected positions. The Georgetown Township Board is committed to a better and respected government for the people.

Township departments include those charged with operation of the library, cemetery, parks and recreation,Ice Arena, seniors, fire, and water and sewer. The Township is served by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The Township contracts with the Sheriff’s Department to provide police protection to our residents. The Township Roads are maintained by the Ottawa County Road Commission
