‘Field & Fire’ the Latest Retailer Planned for Soon-to-be-Opened Downtown Market
‘Grand Rapids’ Downtown Market project just got even more exciting this week – acclaimed Zingerman’s baker Shelby Kibler announced he will be making the move from downtown Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids and opening up artisan bakery ‘Field & Fire in the Downtown Market row of shops. The Market, which will open this summer, is part of a revitalization project designed to enhance downtown residential life and drive foot traffic while offering a variety of fresh food options for visitors as well as downtown residents. It consists of a 138,000 square foot indoor market hall of up to 124 retailers, plus an outdoor farmer’s market where fresh produce and other goods will be offered on select days throughout the week.
Kibler has spent the past 11 years as manager, baker and principal product developer for Zingerman’s, a renowned delicatessen in Downtown Ann Arbor which offers famously fresh breads, sandwiches, pastries and other baked goods and ships throughout the country. His new Grand Rapids storefront, ‘Field & Fire’, will feature a wood-fire oven and use locally sourced ingredients to turn out a variety of fresh breads, pastries and pizzas daily.
Other vendors planned for the market hall include a coffee roaster, florist, gourmet popcorn peddler and oil & vinegar shop. The Downtown Market is scheduled to open on July 1.
