How to approach an open house!

Are you about to start searching for your next home? Are you feeling anxious about going to your first open house? We are here to give you some advice on how to approach the home buying process. Learn what you need to know in advance & how to prepare!

When you approach the open house tours, make sure you have a schedule. Before the tour begins, start researching properties you want to see. This makes it easier to schedule your day so you view all open houses in one area that are in your price range, desired location, etc.

Open houses can be a lot of fun, but make sure to focus more on the property than the social aspects of it all. After you have chatted with the agent, get down to it so you can move to the next property if needed.

Search smart! Check the surrounding properties in the neighborhood & their condition. Bring that smartphone of yours & take A LOT of pictures & videos if you can. When you go back to review the houses you looked at, you want to remember everything. (Always make sure you ask before you whip out a camera –– you want to respect the agent & the current home owners)

Another important factor when approaching an open house is making sure to stay in your budget! Don’t spend too much time on a house you cannot afford, your price range has plenty of options that will work great for you & your family. (Surprise! It can be easy to find great amenities you would not have thought possible)

Always ask, “WHAT IS INCLUDED”! Do you get to keep that awesome washer & dryer set?

How long has the home been on the market for? You may get a better deal if you know the answers to questions like that.

Lastly, have fun with open houses! This is your chance to find that perfect home. If you ever have questions or are looking to buy a home, contact us today. If you are interested in an open house, come out to 801 Broadway Ave NW unit 440 this Sunday 11/13 from 12:00-2:00PM!
